tutorial: baby doll quilt

here are the basic instructions to make this baby doll quilt
what you will need:
18 squares of white fabric cut to 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches
18 squares (two of each fabric to be used in each pinwheel block) of patterned fabric
2 strips of white cut to 3 by 10 inches
2 strips of white cut to 3 by 15 inches
2 strips of red gingham cut to 1 by 15 inches
2 strips of red gingham cut to 1 by 16 inches
2 strips of white cut to 1 1/2 by 16 inches
2 strips of white cut to 1 1/2 by 18 inches

you will want to follow the directions on how to make a pinwheel.
instead of starting out with 5 inch blocks (like i had you do in the big size quilt) you are going to start with 2 1/2 inch blocks.
make 9 pinwheels

next we are going to make the borders:
for the left and right side of your quilt you need two strips of white cut to 3 by 10 inches
sew it to your left and right side.
next take your 2 strips of 3 by 15 inches and sew them to the top and bottom of your quilt

next we are going to do the red border:
take your 2 strips of 1 by 15 inches and sew them to your left and right side of your quilt.
take your 2 strips of 1 by 16 inches and sew them to the top and bottom of your quilt.
next we are doing the outside (and last) border:
take your two strips of 1 1/2 by 16 inches and sew them to the left and right of your quilt.
take your two strips of 1 1/2 by 18 inches and sew them to the top and bottom of your quilt.


make a sandwich of quilt top, batting, and backing fabric.
quilt or tie.
bind your quilt!
